Old Cooperians 5 - Chingford 24

With the current injury ridden squad, the 1st XV entered the game with a depleted squad. The 16 Boys who turned out for the side are a credit to the club and put in a spirited performance.

We struggled to gain a foothold in the game in the first half but defended well at times with Dox and Will Dickson putting in a shift. Unfortunately though we couldn’t keep Chingford out and we entered half time at 19-0 down.

Neither side could gather much momentum to begin with in the second half, as the weather conditions began to worsen. As it progressed, Coopers received two yellow cards and played part of the game with 13 men, Chingford played a lot of the game in the Coops 22 but couldn’t make the pressure pay. Coops grew into the game and after hard work and phase play were rewarded with Brad getting over the line.

The boys continued to put in a spirited performance however a 4th Yellow proved to be a bridge to far and Chingford got over the line for a 4th try in the final play of the game. Final score Coops 5-24 Chingford.

Man of the match was awarded to Brad Tiffin, a real number 6 performance, big shots, great intercept and a try to cap it off.
